It was just the sun, doing it’s job, warmin’ the earth

Water, at any depth, gives me the heebies. Baths are fine. Anything deeper than that, well…

So yesterday, we had the HONOR of going kayaking with our new friends Nick and Michelle. Kayaking at Ada Haden. The water is up to 45 feet deep.

Honestly, the slide into the water was actually kind of fun! Maintain your balance with your foot things, and use your oar to paddle. I can kayak now!!! But then the water started getting silly. White caps, people. WHITE caps. As hard as you try, there is no way to move your boat in the direction you want it to go.

But now, we can say that we’ve gone kayaking in treacherous waters!!! treacherous TRAVIS waters!!!

It was beautiful weather…SO beautiful in fact, that the sun gracefully reflected off the waters and sizzled holes onto my shoulders. Like Jesus was looking at me through a magnifying glass and the sun just so happened to laser the first layer of skin off my shoulders. Blisters are on their way!!!!

So, word to the wise:

  • Go kayaking!
  • Don’t panic if your boat goes crrraaazzzyyy!!!
  • wear a turtleneck and pants!!

Old friends

Yesterday we had a wedding shower for my childhood best friend Pat. I have the pleasure of being a groomsman for his wedding in September. It was great to catch up and reminisce, but also to see a few friends I haven’t seen in a very long time.

I found out that one of those dear friends has been on a gluten-free, casein-free diet (like our lovely nephew Gavin) and has a website full of awesome meal ideas, news tidbits, and other good stuff. Be sure to check out the Gluten-free Garden.

Pretty amazing

I can’t believe that technology has gotten to the point that I can send an instant message and it creates a blog post. I love robots.

So it begins

This has been in development for a while, and actually will probably always be in development, but alas some sort of unveiling. Since most of the work I do on this site is in my freetime, it tends to be over lunch or early mornings. Hopefully it won’t be as slow as it can tend to be.

“Chris, what’s the deal with this site?” you may be asking. Well, here’s the deal. We want to keep friends and family informed of what we’re up to, but also just a place to track thoughts, ideas, suggestions, anything. It’s sort of like a digital scrapbook, but without the fun stamps.

Enjoy!
