One Whole Year!

Some say that the first year of marriage is the hardest. I can say that it was so much better than I had ever hoped! I firmly believe that waiting until I was 26 to get married was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Not that I had anything to do with it…believe me, I wanted to get married at 21. Badly.

The Lord had other plans. And making me wait was such a HUGE blessing. I think that all that I learned during those single years, every “branch cutting” the Lord did was so helpful.

I love Christopher so much. I have loved every second of being married to him.

And let me tell you why:

He gets up early to spend time with the Lord (yay) and let’s me sleep in. He then wakes me up by crawling back into bed with me and kissing me on the nose or singing very softly, “bless your beautiful hide” (see below). And THEN! It gets better. He waits for me at the top of the stairs so I can hold on to him as we walk down the stairs. My legs are rickety in the morning.

He sings songs with me. Songs that I have made up. And he doesn’t mind.

He is okay with chicken voila. All the danged time.

He dances with me in the living room. Like, club dancing. But slow dancing too.

He is a prayer warrior to the max. He has alerts on his phone to remind him to pray for different areas of our life. I’m in good hands. With BubbsState. Never mind.

He is so cute! Have you seen him?

He is okay with the fact that I’m not an outdoorsy kind of girl. And because he is so okay with it, it makes me want to become an outdoorsy kind of girl.

He is so talented. I am in awe of his artistic ability. I love to watch him do stuff on his computer. His fingers fly around, and then all of a sudden it’s an awesome design that I want to have blown up and displayed on a billboard.

He has a “K” tatooted on his arm. For ME!!! Or Kettle Korn. Verdict’s still out.

He is passionate about his Lord and Savior. He wrestles with things, digs into the Word, figures things out. He is a total grace of God story…he shouldn’t be as amazing as he is.

He’s so funny…have you heard him do impressions? Tony Almeda – dead on. Mark Walberg – you’d think he’s in the room. Basically anyone he hears, he can mimic. Pretty dang awesome.

He sings & plays the guitar beautifully. And he writes songs that will bring tears to your eyes. He sounds like Ray LaMontagne. But Chris almost passes out though. That’s the only difference.

He speaks my language! He uses words like “quermbly”, and “shmermie” to describe the state of things. And only I know exactly what he means.

He is an amazing uncle…to his little guy Gavin and to my little boys, Gavie and Liam. He’s going to make an A-MAZ-ING father.

He drinks his coffee Buh-lack. Manly manly.

He leads our connection group with wisdom, patience, and humility.

He is such a hard worker around our house…doing things he’s never done before. Installing a ceiling fan? Check. Putting in a garbage disposal? Check. Window wells? Check. Installing staircase/wallboard/shelves/etc.etc.? Check. New gutters? Soon-to-be check. :)

There is OH so much more, but I have to go to the bathroom now, so it will be a good spot to stop.

I LOVE YOU BUBBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Captain Von Bubbs. You are my all-time favorite. Our love is number ONE!!
